Digital Technologies and Artificial Intelligence (DT/AI) have considerable potential to revolutionize healthcare, but also have the potential to cause harm. Numerous organizations worldwide are developing best practices and guidelines/policies for the safe adoption and deployment of these powerful technologies; yet older adults are often not considered. Samir’s study endeavors to enhance the delivery of compassionate care for older adults, their caregivers and care providers by determining how to best leverage DT/AI to enable healthy ageing. By synthesizing current evidence, practical, ethical and policy considerations this initiative will inform critical guidelines/policies about the unique needs of this important group. This project is being led by Samir in partnership with the National Institute on Ageing at Toronto Metropolitan University and the Institute for Ethics in AI at the University of Oxford.
