Mental health and addictions are highly stigmatized. Stigma from clinicians may lead to less compassionate care. Advances in artificial intelligence (AI) are expected to ‘revolutionize’ healthcare, including mental health and substance use treatment. Developments in the biology of mental health and addiction had some suggesting that biological language may help decrease mental health and addiction stigma. However, research suggests the opposite. Given the interest surrounding the potential for AI in mental health care, it is critical to understand how AI language may influence clinician attitudes. Daniel seeks to identify whether the presence of AI language related to mental health and addiction influences clinicians’ levels of stigma, empathy, and compassion.
