Kristina’s project aims to understand the needs of caregivers supporting individuals with dementia in palliative care, leading to the development of compassionate virtual-care interventions. By involving both caregivers and healthcare providers, we’ll co-design solutions that prioritize family-centeredness, aligning with the AMS’s focus on integrating technology with compassionate care. As the number of Canadians affected by dementia rises, palliative care becomes increasingly crucial in enhancing their quality of life. However, accessing such care, especially in rural areas, can be challenging. Through a comprehensive research approach informed by the MRC Framework, she’ll gather insights from caregivers and healthcare providers, using innovative co-design methods to shape virtual palliative care models tailored to their needs. Her project strives to bridge gaps in access to specialized care and provide continuous support despite geographical barriers, ultimately enhancing the well-being of both caregivers and patients.
