Jaron Chong

Jaron Chong is an Assistant Professor and Department of Medical Imaging Undergraduate Medical Education Director at Western University. He joined the Department of Medical Imaging at London Health Sciences Centre (Victoria Hospital) in July 2020. As a graduate of McGill University (Medicine) and the University of Toronto (Master in Health Informatics, Institute of Health Policy, Management, and Evaluation) he has expertise in health informatics, natural language processing, and artificial intelligence.
Jaron’s research interests include genitourinary oncology and artificial intelligence development and validation. He has led research in Applied Deep Learning AI Applications of Augmented Radiology and explored the utilization of Natural Language Processing (NPL) in physician practice. Jaron is looked to as an expert in AI and NLP and participates in numerous advisory groups including the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada – AI Task Force, Health Canada – Health Technology Advisory Committee, Canadian Association of Radiology – AI Standing Committee Working Group and Vice-Chair Technique and Apps Working Group. Jaron is also the Deputy Editor, Social Media, Artificial Intelligence for the Journal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging. He brings a wealth of expertise in digital technology and AI with a particular interest in human user interface design to the AMS Healthcare Board.
